Endeavour Recruitment has an excellent, long term contract for a leading client based in Cumbria.

We are looking for an Engineer (Software)to support operational plants across the entire site delivering maintenance, plant support and software modifications to industrial control systems, primarily Programable Electronic Systems (PES). 

This is an exciting opportunity to further a career in the IT Industrial Computing and Engineering disciplines or start one! The role would ideally suit an individual from a plant-based maintenance background, an engineering background or someone with a keen interest in IT solutions.

Role responsibilities:

  • Ability to perform complex system modifications without supervision. This may include, but is not limited to, the preparation of requirements specifications; validation tests; impact analysis; technical reviews; support to PMP production
  • Perform temporary and permanent software modifications to PES in line with QMS arrangements.
  • Perform unscheduled (breakdown) maintenance recoveries to the SEP machine Control Systems as part of the local team to significant (safety, quality, environmental) systems and/or technically challenging systems without supervision
  • Assist the Team Manager in the preparation of support activities.
  • Perform the PES Manager role for complex PES with key functionality or several less complex systems in accordance with PES management arrangements.
  • Mentor and tutor Control Systems trainees, apprentices, less experienced engineers and individuals from the Operating Units such as craft and system operators.
  • Provide specialist technical and engineering advice and support to plant maintenance teams, engineering teams (system, equipment & stream engineers), customers and stakeholders
  • Demonstrate an understanding of different PES technology interactions and the interface to plant and process.

Knowledge & Experience

•Control Systems, instrumentation, CE&I or software background.

•Can provide evidence of an ability to work in an operating plant environment delivering structured maintenance activities, control systems, and system improvements.

•Preferably can provide evidence of previous plant process knowledge and experience.

•Demonstrable evidence of working in teams.

Essential Skills

•HNC or higher qualification in an electrical, electronic or software related subject and/or suitable experience.

•Can provide evidence of an expert knowledge of one or more of a variety of PES technologies including PLC, SCADA, DCS, MIS/HLS, SQL Server, Modicon M and Networks.

•Can provide evidence of an understanding and application of the PES modification lifecycle, including both temporary and permanent software modifications.

•Good communications skills with the ability to interact at all levels providing advice, guidance and training across the local team and Plant facing support and operations teams.

Our client has created a new Technical Strategy and put in place a new platform team to set up the frameworks and components. The team is made up of Software Developers and Testers.

We are looking for a skilled Technical Business Analyst with experience working with Software teams and products and that can understand how requirements are broken into technical tasks.

Must have a Technical mindset and have worked with Technical Teams across functions.

Our client is in Insurance, Insurance experience would be a nice to have, but not essential. The solid Business Analysis and the Technical exposure are the key.

The role is Hybrid, 1 day a week on site if commutable to Cork in Ireland / 1 day a month if you are further afield.

Duration: 6 months with further extensions. They expect this to be a long-term ongoing role.

Responsibilities:

The role:

Scope and manage the end-to-end delivery of new projects to time, scope and budget and within agreed quality parameters 

Apply project management principles to projects, eg Develop full scale project plans; Create and maintain risk logs, issue logs and change request documentation; Lead status meetings; Provide status reports for projects etc

Proactively manage tasks, ensuring resources are deployed and deadlines are met

Ensure prompt escalation to senior management when project deliverables are at risk

Manage stakeholders across the business to ensure effective requirements gathering and ongoing communication throughout the project lifecycle

Own, manage and maintain key supplier relationships and act as a point of reference/project planning advice for internal teams

Support the Project Office with lessons learned, best practices, and standardised methodologies

Technical:

Project manage all elements of the software development lifecycle (e.g. requirements, development, testing, rollout) working with internal stakeholders and external suppliers

Use JIRA for above tasks

Use Confluence for key project documents

Financial Responsibility/Authority:

Establish, monitor and report on budgets, escalating to relevant project team members if appropriate

Suggest ways of reducing costs whilst maintaining quality

Project mentoring and support:

Provide informal mentoring and support on projects (possibly also participate in training workshops) for staff who need to develop their technical skills/understanding relating to projects

Required skills/ experience:

  • 4+ years’ experience of product management within a software organisation

Developer in Test

Endeavour Recruitment has an exciting new contract opportunity for a Software Developer in Test to join an international security client in The Hague, Netherlands. It is essential you possess valid/current SC or NATO Secret Clearance. This is initially a 5 month contract at an all-in rate of €53EUR per hour.

 

The successful Software Developer in Test will be responsible for the following –

  • Our client is looking for a motivated, skilled and experienced software developer to kick-start the integration of automated regression testing in their CI/CD system build on Azure Devops.
  • The application under test is a large scale (> 1M LOC) Windows Forms application providing support to the full planning cycle of the client’s operations.
  • The application uses an interface similar to Office 2016 and is mostly built using DevExpress components. The chosen testing framework to use for the project is Appium + WinAppDriver. This framework is the supported Microsoft framework, uses the same protocol and principles of the leading Web test tool (Selenium) and replaces CodedUI which VS2019 is the last version to support. The test specification will be developed in C#.
  • The goal of the project is to complete in 5 months (800 hours) from scratch, the automated test skeleton development, CI adjustment and integration, communication and minimal documentation for a set (minimum 6) of representative large-scale regression scenarios on two applications (OPT and OMT).

The successful Software Developer in Test must have the following experience –

  • MUST HAVE VALID/CURRENT SC OR NATO SECRET CLEARANCE.
  • University degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong C#, Microsoft .Net experience
  • Experience with test development (particularly integration, system and regression tests)
  • Experience with Appium or Selenium
  • Knowledge of WinForms controls / applications
  • Experience with Azure Devops CI/CD is a plus
