Technical Analyst/Mainframe Developer
Great freelance opportunity for a Mainframe Developer / Technical Analyst to join a large Bank based in Brussels
Fluent in English and French or Dutch is mandatory.
Applicants must be Belgium based. Remote working can only be done from Belgium
50% onsite is required.

Role Description

Technical Analysis & Development

Perform end-to-end technical analyses (input/output/processing) for Mainframe-based applications, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
Develop, maintain, and optimize Mainframe applications (Cobol, DB2, IMS, GTMS, JCL, EdZ) with a focus on Term Deposit systems.
Design and implement technical solutions for RUN & Change activities, ensuring stability, performance, and compliance.
Troubleshoot and resolve Mainframe-related incidents, collaborating with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Infrastructure, Business).
Contribute to middleware integration (MQ, zOS Connect, SOAP) to ensure seamless communication between Mainframe and modern systems.

Knowledge Transfer & Collaboration
Collaboration with Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Term Deposit applications and ensuring knowledge retention as SME will leave the bank in 2027.
Document technical processes, and best practices to support long-term knowledge management.
Work closely on RUN & Change activities, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal operational risk.
Participate in Agile ceremonies (refinement, planning, retrospectives) to align technical delivery with business priorities.
Foster a collaborative culture within the squad, promoting continuous improvement in Mainframe development practices.
